Went into my video file and noticed that there were dozens of empty folders. There was one for each day. How did this happen as I did not create these and do not want them? Probably some simple thing that any computer guy would know, but this old guy is stumped

Sounds like a camera setting that starts new folders for every date whether you actually use it or not. Acoarst theyll all dump to the PC each time you connect.

NOt sure BUT if you want to remove them the easy. Download the free version of Glary Utilities.
it has a setting to go in and delete empty folders, it willalso find duplicate files you may have ...
plus lots of other things.
Because you are not computer literate, do NOT run the tracks eraser or Disk repair settings.
but its great to clean your system.... you'll be surprised how many files it finds that are problems etc.

Probably a camera setting for a different folder for each date.

To remove on a PC, select the first one you want to remove in the File Explorer, hold down the shift key and select the last one. This will create a contiguous list. Press your delete key. They are gone.

From your card that youve been using since 2007. If the camera is that old, its tme to get a new one. And change the file numbering system to only one folder with continuous numbering ! A new camera is set for continuous by default. Did you buy the current camera as used ?

The camera is fairly new, the card could be old and used for some stills.

When I upload photos from my Canon's there is a new folder created for each day of shots on my computer. I think there is a setting in the EOS software from Canon on the computer that you specify how you want to import. I like mine by date of shooting.

I've seen something like that happen, but there are always images in the folders. Someone must be sneaking in here and creating those folders while I'm asleep. They're a nuisance - just take up room.

Windows has (created) folders that I don't need and will never use.....
