Maybe I’m a little slow, but just last week read about this Pre-burst option on the Z9. Took a good amount of time deciphering set up, but thought I was successful, so wanted to test it out. Terrible weather for a few days, but this morning, just cloudy, so gave it a go. Above is the result. Now I’m shooting a tiny bird from about 30’ with a 500mm PF lens. Even so, 1600 shutter speed too slow. Every picture was shot in way less than 1 second. But it certainly has promise. Can’t wait for better weather and a nice subject. Downside, for 2 take offs, I shot 212 pics.

Seems to have worked. Nice set.
...yup, my first effort looked similar using pre-release...I'm up to 1/3200 now, but, really, I'd love a bit more resolution so look forward to a firmware update allowing RAW, even at 20fps that would be SO cool.
It was very cloudy, still is. Would like to have higher shutter speed as well as more DOF. I think for a subject quite a bit further away the results will be different. But a wonderful new tool to play with.
The series shows pretty good DOF for your 500mm pf lens.Did you shoot wide open at f5.6 or at a smaller aperture (larger f number) ?
Very nice. Love the last two.
Wide open, needed the light.
A 3 % keeper rate?
Looks good. 120fps jpegs for pre burst?

No bad. A little faster shutter speed would help. If you are going to be doing this on a regular basis, investing in Topaz DeNoise or the equivalent would be worth it. Nice capture of a difficult subject.
