Basically make sure it's an IPS monitor for accurate color.

Naturally cost is a factor. I would give you a couple tips or comments. 1. get at least 2560 resolution. ( I like 4k myself) 2. then of course do you want 24 inch do you want 27 inch do you want 32 inch? For example, the 32 inch 4K Dell black IPS; it’s a super value at $850, but you may only want to spend $500.. there is a significant difference in a monitor like this and say another 32 inch monitor that you see for $399.
Check out the BenQ line of hardware calibrated monitors. IMHO they represent the best combination of performance and price.

I use a BenQ 32" model PD3200U it is a "designer" monitor. And it is great.
They also have a line of "photographer" monitors with higher end specs that are specific to photography, but at 3.5x the price.
You know what I would do?
google best monitor for editing photos
If nothing else, the results will show a price range of $149 to $1,999, with obvious price-points clustered at $299 and $499.
Personally, I have a Dell UltraSharp from when I did a similar google search in 2016, a mid-range monitor within that $149 to $2000 range. When considering size, make sure you verify your target work area and whether a screen at 21in, 23in or 27in will physically fit into that work area.

I use a BenQ SW270C 27 Inch. It claims accurate reproduction and HDR, 99% Adobe RGB, sRGB. It is billed as a "photographer's monitor," and so far, I am very happy with it. $779 at Amazon.
I got a LG 27up80b from Best Buy what was $150 off. Finacial I couldn’t do better at the moment. The black on the monitor isn’t as black as on the MacBook Pro. I’m okay with this-sure I could had get a way better one
I have a 27" Dell, and it's fine for me. It's not a $5,000 model, but it works for me. Look for reviews and comparisons.
I have two 27" monitors side by side they are older Acer UHD 4k monitors. Got them several years back on a black Friday sale. I just switched over to a new Dell computer with Win 11 installed and find I am liking the change. I have
UHH on one screen and the browser on the other.

That's cool and his computer is worth about $500. But I do recommend to spend at least the same amount for monitor and computer.

Eizo is in another league for most and they are excellent.
I used Nanao monitors 30 years ago. They used Sony Trinitron CRT's that had no less than 5 dead pixels, total.
I still remember how great they looked using a Diamond Stealth 64 with the extra 8 megs of memory added.
Thanks for the memories.
