This young lady is 8 years old and a family friend. We were just out practicing with the camera on Thanksgiving.
It was about sunset. I wanted to try nature light portraits, going for light and airy and golden light. I just couldn’t find a light background without complete white out, and I struggled with camera settings, but I did manage a few great images that I loved. I am also new to this 85mm prime. I had it for a little while but I haven’t got to use it much.
Nikon D610 ISO140 f/1.8 or 2.8 1/125
My goal is to get more practice and not take the 85mm off for 6 months.

Cute girl, tell her to enjoy childhood and a play/fantasy world. Adulthood and being serious most of the time will seem to get here at the speed of light when looked back on.
WOW She is a CUUUUU TI !!! Shang.
Great shots!
I have done the same thing with lenses- put one on and let it ride. Not sure I went a whole six months though?
Excellent photos - all of them - don't know which is my favorite
The camera likes this kid - tell her to lighten up she can get serious about the serious stuff later but right now be a kid
Cute kid! Hopefully her stoic expression is simply teenage coolness. I like the 2nd one.
Adorable, terrific shots.
She is a lovely child! That focal length is perfect for this type of portrait. The first and third shots were my favorites in this group.

She looks like 8 going on 20! She's beautiful. I honestly think, since she's 8, I'd rather see her being 8, not 20. She'll have plenty of time later for that. I'm not a portrait photographer and avoid shooting people like the plague, so I'm probably the last one who should comment. But I'm going to anyway. I think your backgrounds are a tad distracting. I would try to find a background without changes - like the window, or the edge of a wall. I also would like to see pictures of her without the headdress.
Great portrait shots, Jan.
Thanks everyone for all the advice and kind comments.
