Good morning,

Please take "13"s advice - I have used it many times and it works just as advertised.

All the best,

Terry

Please confirm whether this idea actually works for your camera model, keeping in mind Canon mostly does not store the shutter count in the image files.

You can't!! I tried many apps on my 7D MKII & 5D MK III, without success.

That is interesting because the Canon 7D does not store the cameras shutter count in image metadata

Edit: I just checked every Exif field available in my Canon 7D Mark II images and there is NO shutter count. I would be surprised if the previous generation Canon 7D has that information available.

And finally, to ensure a level playing field I uploaded a Canon 7D Mark II image to Camera Shutter Count and got the following feedback:

"Your camera doesn't add shutter count information to images"

When you upload a JPEG from any of your Canon EOS cameras, which model number works at this site? Curious minds want to know your specific experiences and which Canon EOS technology was involved.

See the update to my post just above yours. If it won't work for my 7D Mark II, it won't work for the OP's 7D

It's a rhetorical ask ...

I know. But some folks here need official visual confirmation.

Can't speak for Windows, but the only reliable one I have found for macOS or iOS is ShutterCount by Dire Studios.
I have checked it before and after sending multiple cameras to canon for cleaning, repair etc.
