"If an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as you do. If some one maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland is on the equator, you should feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own contrary conviction.
The most savage controversies are those about matters as to which there is no good evidence either way. Persecution is used in theology, not in arithmetic, because in arithmetic there is knowledge, but in theology there is only opinion. So whenever you find yourself getting angry about a difference of opinion, be on your guard; you will probably find, on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants."

"The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts, while the stupid ones are full of confidence."—Bertrand Russell.
I feel this all the time when I discuss politics with Democrats. Facts are completely useless, they are just ignored and deflected. When you are brainwashed by people with a 'D' after their name believing what the party says is the only thing that counts :(

Well, rest easy, no one in this place questions your confidence or old Donny's malfeasance.
You should get that TDS looked at. And, while you are at it, if you can spare 5 seconds get a brain scan.
"In this world, we have only reason to guide us." Ayn Rand.
Some great quotes in there. And you're confused. Ayn Rand was no "dole bludger". Far from it.

To you (and many others in the Attic) there is nothing else on this world but Democrats and Republicans? There's no "people" in your direct proximity? Are you able to get along with somebody without knowing his or her political preference? Put it to rest and move on.
