This is a difficult call because of the sunlight on the head and shadow on the body making it appear that it could be either accoriding to my two bird guides. However, the Finches beak, and this birds beak, is shorter than the Siskens and shorter as shown in both guides, and I think it is a female House Finch. But am by no means certain.

Male House Finch. Siskin's beak shape is different and plumage would show yellow. Nice shot though

I was thinking it was a female House Finch because the male has a red head and chest. However, on reseaching it a bit futher in my guides I found, and then remembered, there is a yellow head and chest male variant and that does appear to be what this one is. The sunlight does make it a difficult call.
