Hello from CT here : ) I'm not a professional photographer, but have the love & passion of taking photos where ever I go. I started taking photos with an older video camera of raindrops on flowers and have been addicted ever since. I own a Canon Digital Camera and I am now in the long process of trying to learn photoshop CS3. I'm trying not to get discouraged for I know that it can do alot. If anyone out there has any input on the easiest way of learning this program, please let me know ! Thank you & happy shooting : )

Thank you Eagle68 and nice to meet you & I'm so glad I found this site. Maybe I'll get a little more insite on learning more of what my camera can do! I usually only use my auto setting because I really don't know how to use the other settings :(

-----

1st thing: get away from auto.
2: try "aV" (aperture priority).
3: after experimenting somewhat, try "manual."

Hi angelrosee03,

Welcome!!! Hope you find lots of stuff to use. This is a great site for beginner, learning, advanced and (dare I say it) for professional photographers to come. We share our experience, knowledge and seek solutions to problems or suggestions on how to improve our photos. Glad to have you on board...

Read your camera manual, it explains it best and show how to set the camera.

Well CT glad ur on board. I'm new also and still trying to find my way around and as you were advised above your auto doesn't give you the quality u deserve. I played with Av yesterday trying to to get my depth of field down (outside) and its helping me a lot to just practice. The dogs are sick of me. My camera is new to me. A cannon 7D. I like it but its not my xti cannon. I have a huge group to shoot and its not my best quality so I'm freaking out, that's why the practicing. I want everyone clear. Your manual is your cameras bible. Happy shooting.

I can't speak to the CS issue because I use Elements 9. But if you want to learn CS quickly and use it to 'fix' your photo's, go find a Scott Kelby book on CS5 on Amazon. He is absolutely the best writer of Photoshop books. He walks you thru the entire photo touchup process quickly and easily. His tricks of the trade are some of the best. I went from Photoshop 5.5 to 7.0 and then Elements 5 and 9. I've had one of Scott's books for each of them. You cannot go wrong with his books. Only once did I try someone else's books and it was a disaster, way to technical.

Does it show a slow computer nerd how to take pictures from a grey screen and place them in another pictures (backdrop ) all I want to do is learn that first. Thx for any advise. ;-)
