Firstly...this post "Is Not About my Camera, my E bike, my Lens, or my Photography". It is only my feelings at the time I'm out in nature. That's all!

So, with that said:

This year I decided to buy an e bike. In the past many years, I have had several bikes, from street bikes to dirt bikes, to Mt. bikes. In the most recent years I have had Mt. bikes. But as age creeps up on me, (I hate to admit this) I re-evaluated my mode of transportation to follow my passion of the Art of Photography.

In recent years, using my Mt. bike to go out in the country and shoot some shots had become cumbersome. I had a hard time getting my right leg over my saddle bags and my camera equipment. I like to travel light, but I like to use my "Toys", so I carry a fair amount of gear.

However this year I bought the e bike I have spent the last 18 months researching. I am one who likes to know as much as I can about a product before I buy it!

So...I bought the e bike of my all my research.

I like the idea that I can now get on & off my bike with ease, (Step Through Model) and travel the back roads & trails near my home.

So...on July 12th. my e bike arrived!

I spent the months of July and August learning how to ride my new purchase for my own safety, and for the safety of my equipment. I spent many hours in the parking lot of our local High School learning about my new bike and getting in better shape. (If you ever try this form of transportation...I highly suggest that you do something similar)

With this new form of transportation, I really had a ball this fall near my home!
I was able to climb the steep hills around my neck of the woods, get there faster, and never worry about a thing. Loved every moment.

When I was riding my bike...that's all I could think about. The wind in my face and the smell of the outdoors!
When I was off of my bike, all I could think about was how much I love my gear, and love using it. I was really at peace with all things...and I loved every moment.

With my e bike I could travel about 45mi. total in my terrain, and do it all in comfort and silence. (And get all the exercise I wanted) The deer and other critters just watched me come and go. The bike didn't seem to bother them at all.

I am a photographer of 50+ years and I mostly do Portraits of clients. I do not profess to be a Landscape Photographer, but I do enjoy the outdoors. That being said:

E bike: Aventon Aventure

Camera: Nikon D750

Lens used: Nikon 50 mm f/1.8 + 2X closeup filter.
Nikon 24-120 mm f/4 zoom (Sometimes with a 2X closeup filter)

The fallowing shots were taken this fall during Oct. & Nov.
I decided to post the shots I like the most , with the next to last shot being a collage of all the shots.

And of course...I saved the last shot of the happy man that shot them all...and had a wonderful Fall Season!

Hope I didn't bore you to much!

The following is what I had the privilege to view in my lens.

I hope you enjoy these as much as I do!

Thanks,
Boone.

This reply is Not About Your Camera, your E Bike, your Lens, or even your Photography. That said....

This reply is, instead, about your Feelings (whatever exactly those may be) when you're out in Nature and while you're putting yourself and your toys to good use.

I could not concur more.

1. Don't complain about getting old. It's better than the alternative.
2. Don't keep the ebike in the house or any other important place: Too many have burst into flame because of
issues with the batteries.
3. What you call "step through" we used to call "girl's bike." LOL
4. Those being said, I'm glad you are getting around and taking fine photos.

P,S. July 12 is the date of our wedding (64 years ago) and the Irish Battle of the Boyne around 1690.

...and July 12 is the date of our 25th wedding anniversary. Great photos, and congratulations on your E-Bike wanderings. Must be so much fun! Love the D750, 24-120 combination.

Re: Boone: I loved the closeups. And the colors are superb. I have been trying to do the same kind of photography, but my images pale next to yours. Warm regards, Davidb.

Thanks for the nice shots and info. I am looking at e-bikes as well for a similar reason. One thing I find along some country roads is the lack of a shoulder. Sometimes I see things I want to photograph and simply cannot find a place to pull over. On very, very back roads I will put my emergency blinkers on and just stop in the road but too often there is noticeable traffic that prohibits that. I think with an e-bike on a rack, I could get to a spot a mile or two down the road, bike back to where I saw the photo opt., and then bike back to the car. There are many beautiful barns and other photo ops in places like Lancaster County (Amish country), but there are many roads in that area with ditches alongside the road and no shoulder. One bike I'm looking at is a folder that I could set inside my SUV. The folder I'm looking at has two batteries with a range of 50-100 miles. This of course is dependent on how much peddling is done by the rider and if there are large hills involved.

Beautiful Photos - excellent color - All the reasons you gave for liking your e-bike are the same reasons that I used to like my motorcycles with some added ones like the trips that a bunch of us would take together. I used to belong to a motorcycle bunch, not a gang, we were a bunch called ourselves the Mammas and the Pappas because that's what we were, all were married and had kids. We rode to help feed the homeless Vets etc. Fun times and most of us took pictures along the way but no one could match what you have.

Your story is inspiring. A question. Where is the tripod?

Thanks for the look and kind words. The tripod is about 12' in front of the shot of me. I had a wireless control in my left hand. I used either a tripod or a mono-pod for 90% of the shots.

Thanks,
Boone.
