I am in need of 1 or 2 1.44MB 3.5" floppy disk drive. I need the kind the uses the floppy interface not USB. It seems that they don't make them any more and for anything that said new the price is over $100.
I need reliabe ones although used one can be reliable but it's hard to determine.
I wonder anyone has any idea?

BebuLamar,

I have found that Salvation Army stores are a good place to get old electronics and computer supplies at a very cheap price. Go visit periodically and you may find amny treasures. The same goes for the second-hand or "antique" stores.

Curious, why do you need the IDE? (non USB) type, will it be placed IN a computer box (tower)?

It's not IDE (which is 40 pin) it's floppy interface (34 pin) and it has been around before IDE. I need it because if I boot the computer up via a USB floppy drive and if I have a USB thumbdrive in the computer it wouldn't see the USB thumbdrive. If I boot it up with the floppy interface the DOS operating system would see the thumb drive as a hard drive thus I can boot it up with floppy, partition, format the thumb drive and install DOS on it. After that I can install the application I need and and run the computer with only the thumb drive.
I still need to use DOS.
Yes it would be installed inside my desktop computers.

Yea, I forgot what preceded IDE, been a while. That's why I wrote "IDE?"

Yah! IDE is the same as ATA or PATA. The floppy interface is good for 8", 5.25" and 3.5" drives and can support 2 drives.

That's what I had in my first "IBM <compatible (8080)>" (second) computer IDE. There was something before IDE though, as I remember having to specify IDE.
My first computer was not IBM compatible (6809E processor), but it did have external dual 5.25s.

Although my first computer the IBM PS2 model 65sx has the large (for 1989) 120MB SCSI hard drive. I think most HD at the time had the ST-506 inteface with about 40MB.
