Hi!
I’m having an on/off switch problem with my Dell XPS 8900.
Anyone in Nassau County know a reputable computer repair shop that can handle this problem?
OEM cable & switch runs between $12 to $16.

Thanks to JerryC41 for his advice and thanks, in advance, to anyone who might be able to help.

Indi.

I remember Custom Bakers in that area. They made large, delicious chocolate cakes. Yummy! You'd make a right off Long Beach Rd, and it would be about a hundred yards on the right.

I didn't dare enter the price, but why not? $1.75 for a huge, delicious cake - around 1958.

buy the switch and put it in yourself. You just replacing parts in a computer you don't really fix it.

But they won't fix my computer!

You must be talking about Whistle Stop. Excellent cheesecakes...but VERY EXPENSIVE.

Yeah! I'm seriously thinking about it. The 2 video's I saw don't show how they accessed the cable & switch. I'll check more videos, but if involves removing the front face of the computer I'll be very leery.

See if you can download the service manual. I don't know about Dell but HP has them that show you step by step how to replace those things. Besides if you damage things it would be cosmetic and the computer still works.

Indi, what's your Service Tag? Find it. enter it in dell.com/support, then find the Service Manual. That should show you how to do it.

I just checked and it's all there, molded plug and all - watch the cable routing!

I don’t have a service tag. I didn’t contact Dell. It’s an old computer now. I’m going to buy the cable and see if there are more videos on YouTube. If not I’ll look at Dell or other sources for the manuals.

Thanks.
