It's a rainy cool fall day so I will be playing indoors. This is one of the Morning Glory seed pods that I keep in my box of collectibles that I staged for a focus stacking session for days like today.

I have an assortment of pastel-colored craft paper that I use for backgrounds and I placed this one about six inches behind the seed pod and washed a soft diffused light from the top down to create the background for this session.

I chose a 50mm reversed enlarger lens that was slightly extended to fit the seed pod fully in the frame of the camera. An LED panel soft light and tracing paper were used as the primary illumination for the session. The series of 156 images were stacked and processed to produce this image.

Thanks, Flathead27ford. It reminds me of a pumpkin which is fitting with Holloween a few days away.

Nice. It looks odd with no bugs on it, though.

Very good! Would you say they are about 3/4 of an inch long? The lighting worked out well and the background is nice and soft. Inspirational and informative, as always!

Thanks, Blenheim Orange. The specimen is about 3/4 of an inch and the pod itself is about 1/2 of an in diameter. I wanted to share the info of the session for it does not take a sizeable investment to do sessions like this.

Thanks, Kpmac. So true, and I am quite sad that the bug season has come to an end except for those that can be found overwintering.

Thanks, Joe. You're right about that! There are no darn chiggers in our basement camera room.
