I don't understand QR Codes. I take a picture with my phone. Then what? A device I bought came with a QR Code to get the manual. Taking a picture didn't get me the manual.

You need a QR code scanner app. Quick download and you’re good to go.

QR codes link to a website, if your phone camera doesn't read QR codes then you need to add a free QR app to your phone, once installed open the app, use the camera and bingo...

Thanks. All the sheet said was to take a picture with the cell phone camera.
At a local restaurant the sign said the same as your sign. Then the menu came up - we ordered - got the food - and then the check came up - we paid & tipped - and then we got the receipt. Very efficient. That was with an iPhone - other cell phones may not work as easily.

When MANY people write, they think
everyone knows what they are talking about.
They don't consider that
some people may not be aware of the subject....

My DW’s phone -Samsung S22 Ultra - it has a built in QR scanner shortcut (android 9 or later). She opens the camera and lets it focus on the QR code - does not take a pic and it will read the code and displays options.
The code let me download the manual and videos, and I sent both to my computer.

I have an app on my iphone. I just hit the camera tab, hold it over the QR & it does it automatically. I gues why they are called smart phones? (while I scratch my head wondering)

If you have an iPhone a QR code scanner can be found on the Widgets screen. You might be able to use one in messaging. Other than that you can download a QR code scanner as was suggested.
Note: there are some code scanners that have devious motives.
I’ve seen lists of bad ones but I don’t remember where. Try Kim Kommando’s website.

Whenever I took a picture of the QR Code I got nothing. I thought it was me or the phone/camera.

That's called "speaking from superior knowledge" and happens frequently with technical subjects. Years ago, when I was working as a Research Chemist, I had to be particularly careful about that when giving talks at technical meetings in the aerospace industry. It's easy to forget that not all have had your exposure to the subject matter.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak up and to remove all doubt!
A QR Code holds a block of text. The most common format can hold about 50 characters, but a more dense layout can hold up to 4K. Usually, this is used for a web URL, with your phone's camera recognizing it, and offering a "Click here" to go there button.
However, it can hold other things. Formats are defined contacts and calendar events among other things.
I had an old phone, and I kept trying to take a picture of the QR codes, and nothing happened. Then I got a new phone, and found out all I had to do was scan the code with the camera and a link came up. The first one must not have had the app.
