Can anyone ID this boat seen recently in the Hudson river near Newburgh NY?

It looks like a towboat to me. It actually pushes barges though.

I also wonder if it is privately owned since I can not see a barge companies name on it.

The bow has what looks like a ramp that can be lowered and there is a crane in front of the deck house. I'm thinking bouy tender?

I don’t see a name or a owner company on it. I also don’t see a registration mark. Identifying this vessel is difficult. It could be a multipurpose vessel for tending bouys and hydrographic surveys. As for fishing, probably not. It doesn’t have a Downeaster design.

I think all boats must have some kind of ID. I had an inflatable with a 3 hp motor on Lake Winnipesaukee, and I had to pay a fee and get a number.

It’s an army landing craft from West Point. They are usually tied up at the school

It is a Navy-type landing craft, the Pelican LCM-8

Bow and stern Markings appear to be painted over or obscured for some reason. Very odd indeed for either private, commercial or military.
