When my granddaughter was 4 she asked me why I always travelled so much. I told her there was a huge world to explore, to which she replied she wanted to go with me. I kiddingly said that she would have to wait until she was 10 and then I would take her on a trip.
Well, she turned 10 this past year and never forgot my promise to her, reminding me each year on her birthday that she was that much closer. So I spent 6 months planning the trip and we finally went off together in June - Iceland (1 day and 1 night), London (3 days) and Paris (4 days). I made her do a lot of research on the cities and sights we were going to visit. I borrowed a bridge camera for her to take, and gave her a journal in which she had to write every night.
We had an unforgettable journey, a marvelous time and it was a joy to spend 7 days with my granddaughter alone.
Madison at the Blue Lagoon, Iceland

Great story, great capture!
did she get a good grade, very nice photos
Thanks, Rufas and Skip. She got a good grade. Some nights after a long day she didn't want to write in her journal, but I did make her do it. I think she'll be glad in later years as she has a diary of her first trip abroad.

How wonderful for both of you!! A dream trip of a life time and delightful photos!
I'm sure it was a wonderful trip for your granddaughter also.
BTW that guard is the scruffiest I've ever seen. I'm sending a copy of your photo to his commanding officer. :D
You're right. Court martial the scruffy devil
Yes, she was thrilled and I enjoyed seeing those places thru her eyes.

Ha, ha, I didn't even notice until you mentioned it!
I'm soooo jealous! Madison is beautiful and very photogenic. Only one thing missing -- a pic of the two of you together

Thank you. She's a good kid too. You know what it's like being the photographer....... always on the "other" side of the camera.
