Labs.OpenAI.com is available to the public now and is an interesting dimension to the craft of creating images.
These are completely computer generated images created by telling the AI program to make a picture from a phrase The first is "An ugly hedgehog holding a camera"
The second is "Happy collie in the style of Takashi Murakami"
The third is "A photograph of two people on a beach with a sunset"
That is very cool! I also have access to the program, and its fun to play with. Your results are better than mine.
Dang! You won’t even need a camera anymore to take a picture.
I guess I'm going to have to try that. I wonder if it will do political pictures?

I just typed in "Donald Trump and Joe Biden hugging and smiling with the white house in the background" and got the following error message: "It looks like this request may not follow our content policy."

No need for a camera, lens and knowledge to use them.
No need for artistic skill.
Heck, no need to even leave home any more!
Just do it all with AI!
Also no model/property releases required. No stock photography because everyone can just let AI create the image they need.
This abomination, this "psycho-camera," is an existential threat is a threat to a Photography's existence or survival.
Psychiatrists will use it as a diagnostic tool... "Ms Shelley, ... Dear Mary, what does this creature in your nightmare look like?" Both Patient and Psychiatrist, Dr. Frankenstein, will be terrified at the outcome.

I actually think it is a useful exercize and a glimpse of our future as it is impacted by AI.
I have observed that we take different kinds of photographs. Most of the 7 primary areas of photography, Portrait Photography, Photojournalism, Fashion Photography, Sports Photography, Still Life Photography, Editorial Photography, and Architectural Photography, are largely unaffected by this technology.
Commercial art and stock photography will likely be impacted heavily, but the explosion of high quality cameras has already shaken that world.
It is artistic expression through images that is heavily impacted The craft of photography is completely eliminated with the creative spark of expressing an idea through images distilled to its essence.
How does the pricing work? Are you charged if you type in some words and generate an image?

On family outings, my daughter in law regularly makes pictures with her Samsung cell phone that are as good as the ones I do with my DSLR. Exasperating! Lol
Anyone else see another new Section coming to the UglyHedgeHog?

To generate these images, the engine has to be fed thousands of image to learn. So I guess my next question would be is Where are these AI sites getting all the images to feed the beast?
