(edit: I added photo #2 after the first two replies. Wanted to see how it looks with the wide black border)
A Topaz Studio 2 filter helped make the wispy threads stand out. Feedback welcomed. I'll post the workflow as soon as I can find it; just did this a few days ago

Hey stranger, great to hear from you! Will we see new photos soon? You're still on my buddy list, you know
Delighted you enjoyed, Larry

As are you :). The birds I had been photographing with such enthusiasm for the last several years have become so scarce now, over the last years, that it has become fruitless to keep looking, so I have essentially given "taking photo's" a rest, as I did with producing art work over the years. Also, this year I took a job as a picture framer and have had far less free time. Life changes, but I still keep an eye on what you and some of the others are up to here.

"Life changes..." Man, ain't that the truth. Take care, and stay well, Mark.
Beautiful Linda. I can't wait to see the work flow. It's obvious you had great shots to start with but I can't wait to see what you did in Studio 2

Whew, glad I found the psd
Thank you Jack!
#1 - the before/after, which I later cropped for final, final result. When I cropped I did a tad more adjustments, nothing major.
#2 - the workflow. The Studio 2 preset is called "Melting." For those who aren't familiar, in Studio 2 the one-click preset can be changed in opacity and blend mode, but not only that, there is a layer-type display that shows the ingredients of the preset. Whatever was used can be additionally adjusted. I didn't, but the 3 components of "Melting" are Sharpen, Radiance and Smudge.
The layer called Classical Soft Focus is one of Nik Color Efex's presets, as is "Darken/Lighten Center."
I used hue/saturation adjustments to tweak for more red, less yellow. Note all the layer masks that indicate where I blocked the adjustments and Nik layers.
Thanks again!
WOW, WOW, very nice. Grabs my interest. 👏👏👏
Love the contrast.
The original image is very nice as is the post-processing. I like the wider black frame on the second image. Good job and thanks for posting the workflow.
Jim, UncleBuck and Fstop12 - thanks so much for your time and interest! I have to say that Topaz still surprises me on occasion
I don't know if this bush is related to the milkweed plant? Pods are much smaller and were on a thin-branched, bushy bush.
