Professional-level photo printer

Guys, I am looking for a top-quality professional photo printer, capable of up to 17 x 22" sheet fed. I was using a friend's Epson P800 lately, preparing for my first gallery show, and I thought it worked very well. However, the P800 is out of production, and I have read mixed reviews of its replacement, the P900. This is still an option, but I am also considering the Canon ImagePROGRAF PRO-1000 17". What are your suggestions? My criteria: hopefully under $2,000; professional level (I am not a pro, but a very serious amateur); I don't need roll-feeding; I will most likely print one sheet at a time (not high volume).

I use Canon pro1000. Works great only complaint is cost of the ink. 😊

Just stay away from H-P products. Once the best on the market, the firm no longer makes reliable quality products.

I use the Epson P6000. Works very well, and uses 24" roll stock as well as the ability to print individual cut sheets up to 24" wide. Only drawbacks for some; it's not cheap, and neither is the 9 cartridge ink.

I have the Canon Pro-1000. The ink is very expensive, but if you're serious about your work it's well worth it. My prints are comparable to a professional printer. I now print all of my photos and save the shipping and waiting time.

Highly recommend the Pro-1000 - it's built like a tank, never clogs, and produces brilliant images.

If you get a top of the line printer, why is the cost of the ink an issue? If I could afford a Bugatti, I wouldn’t worry about the price of gas.

I love Epson products and am quite pleased with my P600 which produces very sale worthy quality but it maxes out at 13" x 19" which is sufficient for my needs. Ink doesn't come cheap from any manufacturer.

I have been very satisfied with my P900. I've had it about a year and, while the ink is as expensive as the Canon inks, it is very economical in the use of ink.

Another vote for the Canon Pro-1000. Excellent printer and covers a large part of the Adobe RGB color space, which is significantly bigger than the srgb color space. It also does a great job with B&W.

If you enjoy buying ink then go with the Canon Printer. I think before you decide you should check out this site. It will say there's no content, but if you click on videos or playlists you will see the content.
