I have had a personal property policy for all my camera gear for over 40 years with State Farm. I have never filed a claim.
I was in Cuba last week, my Sony A7111 fell off a table onto a cobblestone street. It was not working well, sometimes would focus sometimes would not focus. I had to keep turning the camera on/off to get it to work. I did have another camera with me.
I called the insurance company as soon as I got home. I filed a claim, heard from the inspector within 24 hours. The money will be in my checking account within 3 days.
I did order another new/used Sony A7 IV from B&H got it the next day.
It feels so good when things go smoothly.
How did they value your loss? Replacement? Ebay?
Great to hear, I also use State Farm and had lost a tripod in SC. No questions asked, they sent me a check and I bought a new one.

I received the exact amount I had it insured for.
Great to know, I have mine insured with them. I don’t remember giving them an exact amount. I have 20,000 but for several items…maybe I did.

It was what I had it insured for. The replacement was more than the broken one.

I had each item insured separately. I give the exact amount, with receipts when I insure things. It wasn't just a number.
Filed two claims with State Farm one for replacement one for repair, easy and not a problem.

What do you mean by new/used? It's one or the other.
It was new and returned. Got an A+ rating

I have found that the two most important factors in getting results are the length of time with the company and the relationship with the company's agent. The agent will (usually) intervene to get the company to satisfy their clients if there is a problem. You can have the administration of your policies transferred to a different agent if you move to a new city or don't get the service you expect.
