10 seconds to search for "Photo Scanning Software": https://www.google.com/search?q=photo+scanning+software&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS937US937&oq=photo&aqs=chrome.0.69i59j69i57j0i67j69i61j69i65j69i61j69i65l2.2543j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

I have used VueScan for years, others like other apps. SilverFast is also very good. I have never used any of the others that pop up through these links. Read the specs because though VueScan and some of the others have drivers for many different scanners you don't want to order an app that won't work with your scanner.

Thanks Robert I know how to search. I am asking from people who scan what software they use and if they recommend it. You use VueScan. I will check that one out.

For many years VueScan and SilverFast battled it out for top pick with many people. I know nothing of all the other choices that came up.

I understand there are some "commercial grade" scanning apps that mostly work with highend expensive scanners but have versions for consumer scanners but like wise I know nothing about them and wouldn't want to spend the money for the apps and/or scanners they are for.

I use the Epson software that came with my scanner. It produces wonderful results.

Thanks Bill, I tried that but it's too basic for what I need

Ditto here. The Epson software has an advanced mode that is quite customizable and sophisticated. But I have also used VueScan successfully on an older Minolta slide scanner whose native software will not work with contemporary operating systems. Here is a well supported justification for choosing SilverFast though.

I've been using SilverFast software for the last 15+ years. For the first 12 or so with an Epson Perfection 3200. I'm now using it with an Epson V850. It works great.

I’ve used both the Epson software and VueScan with my V600, and for most scanning I find the Epson is easier to get good results from. Probably just a personal preference.

I use the Epson software that came with the V600. It took a little experimenting to get the settings I like.

To avoid messing with those settings, all my black and white documents get scanned on a different scanner, an HP.
