I love this show. In case you haven't heard about it, it's on the Discovery(?) channel, and it shows the efforts to discover buried treasure on a Canadian island near Nova Scotia. I first read about this in a magazine article about fifty years ago. People have been looking for treasure there for over two hundred years.

Currently, two brothers from Michigan(?) are leading the search. I'm sure they'll never find any actual treasure, but it's interesting to watch. In almost every show, they find something - a shoe from an ox, old jewelry, old wood, etc. I'm surprised they have been able to drag the show for nine years. I'm sure everyone is making money from the show, and they will continue as long as the money keeps flowing in.

The island definitely has a long and varied history, and I find it interesting as they explore and find more artifacts. What prompted this post is an email I received promoting all the "merch" they are selling related to the show. I can easily resist that. By the way, if you're in the Nova Scotia area, you can take a paid tour of the island.

I wonder if the producer is "seeding" the area the night before the discoveries?
Like "Storage Wars" and "Pawn Stars"

Or even worse, like Ghost Hunters which, after something like 13 seasons has yet to give its audience anything of substance. I don't know which it speaks worse of; a tease of a show that offers nothing, or its audience who accepts nothing yet keeps watching (IMHO).

Of course, T, these shows are always 'staged' for an attempt at reality before anything is aired. Kinda like Naked and Afraid, another scripted, dramatized, supposed reality show. These are strictly for entertainment for those who like that kind of stuff; in addition to the two you mentioned, add The Last Alaskans, Rue Paul's Drag Race, Undercover Boss, Ice Road Truckers, and the list goes on. Discovery Network, History Channel, Nat Geo Channel have made these shows their foundations....Cheers

And I have the problem with video and photo "evidence" after working with an Indy film producer of horror movies and his special effects people, video and photos are too easy to fake, and people have been faking it since the discovery of film.

How many other photographers don't see orbs in flash photos showing "spirits" but see dust and insects spots.

I retired from the contracting business and I'm quite impressed with the heavy machines that they bring in for their search for treasure. I think about it this way; If it takes several million dollar machines to dig down a hundred plus feet and shoring to keep the hole from collapsing, how in the heck did someone dig it given only hand tools back in the day?

By the way, it's a lot easier to dig a horizontal tunnel and shore it from collapse than it is a vertical shaft and the wet muck that they are digging in makes it far more difficult. It takes very special care to protect workers from the dangers of collapsing trenches which played a large part in our planning and safety program for our plumbers and pipefitters who had to work in them.

I know of the show. Never watched it. It's a lot harder to keep me interested than that.

I, too love this show. I’m pretty sure that some of the the finds are “seeded” but, when you really think about it, almost all of the reality shows have some staging.
They won’t find treasure until the show loses too many viewers or the brothers wish to stop working.
If they did find the treasure, the show would be over, so they’ll keep on teasing us until the show ends.
I watched all of the 9(?) seasons in a year and a half.

They have tied the technical stuff the the Knights Templar. I didn’t know the Knights has that kind of technology in those days but the structures they are finding certainly prove they did.

I used to watch Ghost Hunters until I saw the episode where the big guy’s little partner’s jacket collar was tugged on a few times but he always had his right hand in a pocket away from the camera.
Everything I ever saw on the show was always reproducible.

I watched the first couple seasons, and got tired of them never finding anything substantial. The fact that they still haven't found anything confirms my wisdom of quitting watching.
