Has anyone here used this lens and if so what is your take as a possible walk around lens on an RP?

I got RF24-240 when I got my eos R and am now using it on my R5. I have been using it for a couple of years now. It is a very versatile and has been a great walk around lens. Good resolution at all focal lengths and works well for close ups of flowers etc. as well as distant objects. I am very happy with this lens.

I also use the RF 24-240 as the walk-around lens on my R5. I'd rate it very good. Not as sharp as a prime, but its zoom range makes it much more versatile. Also, not as sharp as an L lens, but less costly and generally lighter and/or more compact. Great for walking around. You might consider renting one to try for yourself; Lensrentals currently has it for $48 for a week.

I have an RF 24-240 that I got with my RP and it was a great lens on that camera. I now have an R10 and use it on that camera. I think it is a great little lens and doe's a really good job.

I use the RF 24-240 on my R5 as my basic lens. It is a 5 star rated lens. I print my pictures 13X19 and see no problem.

I have used the RF 24-240 on the RP and currently on my R5. It is surprisingly sharp especially at f8. Great option for a walk around lens.

I have not used it but it has good reviews. I have the RP and the R7. On the R7 it would have a multiplier of 1.6 so it would take it close to 400mm.

I have the RF 24-240 and an R5. I use it occasionally as a walkaround lens.

There are two issues. When using the extra cost Canon lens hood there is some vignetting at 24 mm. Also, there is no focus ring.

The all purpose ring can be programmed to focus but it involves programming steps in the button-ring assignments in the camera. Then, if you use other lenses, the assignment needs to be reassigned to other functions.

Given those two issues it is still a great, sharp, versitile lens but not quite as good as the higher-end RF L quality glass.

But at the short end it would take it to about 38 mm, losing much of the wide angle range of the 24-240. The wide angle range is one of the reasons the 24-240 is such a great all-purpose walk-around lens. One of the downsides of crop sensors.

I bought the 24-240 after purchasing an R6 from a fellow hogger. The lens is fantastic, and is constantly on my R6. I also bought an RF 14-35, which I have just used a few times for extra wide-angle shots. These two lenses replace all the 12 EF lenses that I had, so I sold all of my EF lenses (except 50 f1.4 and 85 f1.8). The 24-240 is a great lens and I totally recommend it as your walk-around, all-purpose lens.

It is a decent lens. I use it as a walk around lens. It is my favorite to take the Miller Park Zoo here in Bloomington, IL. It is not as sharp as an L lens, but lighter. I have used it with several R's include the 7, 5, 6, RP and R.

I can't speak to the lens hood issue as I don't use one on that lens.

As to the second issue, there is a focus ring. The 24-240 lens has a dedicated focusing/control switch that enables you to use the ring either for focusing, or to use it as a control ring as programmed in the camera. Keeping the switch set to focus, there is no need to set any button-ring assignment in the camera, and you can use the ring to focus manually even when the camera is in AF mode.

I use this lens on an RP and an R5. Versatile with reasonable results.

I use mine a good bit on the RP. It's quite versatile and stayed on the camera for most of a recent vacation. For hiking, I prefer a bit smaller lens if the hike is long or strenuous since it's a little front heavy on the RP and bounces around some when hiking.
