What are the chances that this film might still be good? A friend brought it to me to see if I could use it and I don't have a single film camera left.

My friend has undergone surgery to remove a large brain tumor and he needs to sell this if at all possible. He doesn't own a film camera now either.

This is not the kind of film I used many moons ago, so I don't really know anything about it. I will check for expiration dates if anyone is interested.

I really would like to sell it for him if it will bring anything at all, plus shipping. If anyone wants to take a chance on it, please let me know and make a bid on it.

The issues are two: 1, what are the expire date(s) for each and every roll, and 2, how was the film stored? If frozen or always refrigerated, the film should fine. I've really enjoyed my results from NPH400 that is more than a decade expired, but kept frozen before sold to me.

Paul, they all say 2003 and 2004. The box that says 20 rolls has 14 left in it. I have no idea how they were stored and he doesn't either. They were not at his house all these years. I would think that anyone who used that kind of film and that much of it, would know to refrigerate it but we don't know and there is no one left to ask now.

It's just a matter of whether anyone is willing to take a chance.

The easiest way to tell is to find a film camera and shoot a roll. Get it developed.

Charge low enough so it won't matter if it is a little off. I've shot a lot of expired Kodak, and a few Fuji that were expired at least 10 years under no special storage, just room temp., and the images turned out fine. I even had processed a few rolls of C-22 Kodacolor I found in my basement that were exposed 60 years ago, and they turned out surprisingly good.

Put it on ebay or post a classified at Photrio.net. There are people that into expired film. They don't pay much but certain you can get some money out of them.

Thank you all very much. I didn't expect anyone to pay much for it this far out of date with no knowledge of how it was cared for but we got an offer, pending completion now.

Thank you for letting us know. I'm hoping this will all be good for the shooter who gets it.

I'm interested in the 35mm film, if it's still available?
Thanks

These were all excellent films when sold. Expiration date and storage conditions are the keys to knowing how good they are now.

There are photographers obsessed with shooting out-of-date film. They like the uncertainty of the results. I would put your friend's film on eBay noting the various types and expirations dates. Someone is likely to snatch up the whole lot.
