I'm 79 I retired about 3 years ago from a private bank wealth management firm. I still have a seat at the table just to interview new staff when called upon. Once your A$$ hits that door it's old news. I am involved in various organizations and doing pretty well. Given all the hate and hypocrisy in the country, I would not want to be any younger.

I’m 76.7 so just past the average. Just had my yearly nuclear heart scan today (the treadmill is always a bi$ch), so should know how my heart is doing in a few days. You know all of the systems are going to eventually fail - the goal is to have them all fail at the same time. Considering the number of near death experiences I’ve had, it’s a source of constant amazement to me I’ve made it this long.

TriX, remember we don't assign much value to camera shutter counts.
We hope that you just keep on "Clicking" and ticking.
Having you around makes us . . . .

I am 79. I played a round of golf yesterday and shot 77.

My father made it to 97 and I am trying to do even better.

Many of my early life friends are gone now. We are the lucky ones.

I shot a 77 once.
But it was for nine holes, LOL!

I was 85 on Feb. 3. I'm doing fine. If I live another 5.5 years, I will have equaled my parents' combined ages. (41 & 49)

Me, too. I'm also 85. And still have all my own teeth, plus I see like a hawk! (After cataract surgery, that is! 😁) The Lord has been kind to me!
Cheers,
Don

Well you guys are a real inspiration to me, I turn 67 this month and I am looking at retiring at the end of this assignment I am currently working on.

Life expectancy calculations that you quote are average and the longer you live your individual life expectancy (based on your health) goes up the longer you live. At 78 and active and engaged with the world yours is going to be significantly above average.

Live Long and Prosper, to quote an old TV character.

72 this past July. Not in bad shape but a right knee without cartilage keeps my hikes down to about one mile in and a mile out when chasing waterfalls and other things to photograph. I have played golf since turning 13 but was never any good -- high 80s to low 90s was my norm until about six years ago. Now I don't shoot under 100. I never was one to practice -- just liked to hit the little white ball. Back when I first began playing there was another young 13-year-old I played with often. When we began I would beat him most always. He was a scrawny 80 lbs. and short while I was tall and outweighed him by 50 lbs. I could drive the ball farther. Raymond though brought a tire innertube to the golf course and when I arrived he had already been chipping into the tube for a while. By the end of the first summer, I could never beat him! It shows how practice can help and although I have known that for the last 60 years, I still just enjoy hitting the little white ball and don't care so much what the score is.

I still get to play golf with my son who is 42. It is precious time with him that money can't buy. Though there is no real reason to spend that kind of money - especially since I suck at it. I think I'm caught in a 'Barbarino' (Welcome Back Kotter) age...birth certificate says 75, but my wife swears I have to be 12...'I'm so confused!'

Congratulations on reaching your age in your apparent good health. I am 88 and luckily am also in good health . . . and like to think that I am on "borrowed time".

My family history ain't great. My father made it to his early 80s, but he was the exception. I'm working on living a long time. I eat a lot of ice cream and cake to keep myself happy, and I sit still watching TV so I don't wear out my body. That's good, right?

That apparently is not right. Experts seem to agree that healthwise the best thing older people can do is "keep moving".

I think the quoted figure is for someone born today. There are life expectancy figures for people of other ages. For example in the US the average life expectancy for an 80 yr old white man is 7 yrs and for a woman 9.1 yrs
