Having returned from the scene of the crime a short while ago, I hereby attach the attached forensic foto --though raw-ly shot and thus requiring a slight 'translation' from its raw-ness to a view- and post-able jpeggitudity-- which (Witch???) suggests there may be more afoot than I and the various LEO agencies have previously thought.
To wit: It is now apparent that whomever it was that surreptitiously stole the (128 Gb!!!) mini-SD card out of my drone had lain in wait for an (un-)fair and clearly treasonous amount of time while awaiting my return. (I'm under contract to do bi-weekly 'Cedar Ridge Reports' for NASA, the FSB, and the MfHH to assure that a certain amount of decorum is being properly maintained, and despite the fact that I've been kept --through no fault of my own-- from submitting reports over the last couple of months, I've maintained complete records of the $$$$$ies they've paid me, and per my contract, my legal team assures me I'm completely in the clear on that score.)
In effect, today I returned to the scene of the crime, and did a full walk-around of the scene and touched NOTHING other than my camera and the places where my feet met rock, sand, or cactus (ouch!). I've alerted the local constabulary to the presence of these tin cans, and they've assured me they'll be out there pdq to do fingerprinting and DNA sampling on this previously unnoticed evidence. Rest assured! The perpetrator(s) WILL be apprehended!
I would think any fingerprints on those cans would be long gone by now. Still a nice photo.
Doesn't the plot always thicken, Cany. What would be the point of a plot if it DIDN'T thicken!? How do you expect to eat your meat, if the plot doesn't thicken!?!?!? Oh...sorry. I got carried away there for a second! Shades of Pink Floyd there!
That looks like the purrrfect, as your cats would say, place to get some viable DNA and fingerprints! I've heard that the longer you bake the DNA in the sun the better.

the "better it gets", you may've meant, Chiefster.
Now, I'm off to eats my pudding......

Damn straight, Mike. That FLETC (Federal Law Enforcement Training Center) training --generally referred to simply as "fletcie" in a nasal and sneering tone-- was a real bear! Party at nite.... have somebody kick you awake the next morning.... drink lots of coffee.... shoot some guns.... party at nite.......... stumble out of the rack around noon (maybe).......... coffee.............. crime scene investigation............. party...................... learn how and where to sign the ticket you issued................. when to exhibit some compassion, especially in instances when she was really hot.......................................... party at nite. Rinse, repeat, and rinse some more.
That's how all the Law Dogs I knew described it, anyhow. I did, however, try to read some of the notes that my buddy Gary took after he did the training. Wasn't a real easy thing to do, either, what with all the coffee and puke stains and such.

Yeah, sure! And the Federal Govt. knows exactly where Jimmy Hoffa is spending his retirement years. Tin can remnants in the dessert will catch the attention of whom?
I have a question. At what point do tin cans change from being simply trash to being interesting artifacts and archeological remains?

The Antiquities Act of 1906 established a requirement that something less than 50 years old cannot be considered an antiquity. It also states that something greater than 50 years old must be of social, historical or archaeological significance for that thing to be considered an antiquity worthy of some form of protection. There's obviously a lot more to the Act than just that, but I figure you'll get the idea.
