"Epic Ride" The Stop At Powelltown.
Sunday I did the "Epic Ride". It's a group ride that takes place most weekends.
Usually Saturday but occasionally Sunday if the weathers more favourable.
It's Winter down here so there was only 3 of us on it. When the weather is warmer
there's often a dozen or so.
We meet about 20 miles ESE of the CBD of Melbourne.
Anyway, the photo was shot at a stop at Poweltown. We went further east and did
the Baw Baw Walhalla loop et al... and down the bottom of the map for lunch...
The guy on the Yam is a fan of the fish and chip shop down there. I have to
say the portions of whiting are massive and tasty.
So we spent about 8 hours fanging through the twisties in those parts
of the "Great Dividing Range".
Just for the record; no alcohol was consumed.
I envy you guys. At 77 years old my reflexes and attention span make me a danger to myself and everyone else. I miss it!
I know the feeling all to well. Had to give up the 2 wheels at 77 also. After over 600K miles, still miss it.

For shame! I still ride at 94. (Didn't even ride a bicycle until in my 40s, but have enjoyed riding - including a little motocross - Bultaco 350 Pursang - ever since.) Not much chance these days - and here - to ride just for fun; mostly just going to the store (no car).

Sorry to hear that.
But at least you have great memories that many don't.
I'll keep posting so you guys can journey down well furnished memory lanes from time to time.
If you have any photos of your bikes etc, you're welcome to post them in my thread here.
I'd love t' see 'em.
Nice day out. Twisties is what riding is all about!

I don't still have the Pursang. There's no motocross courses here, anyway, besides which, I wouldn't be doing motocross now! I usually had only one bike at a time - except once, when my oldest son and I had seven motorcycles in the garage at one time! I had three, and he had four. He was racing motocross at that time - and was quite good at it! If I get the time to look for them, I'll put up pictures of some of my bikes, though there's not really much to interest anybody other than me. My son had a Husky, which somebody stole - out of our locked garage. It was supposed to be good for the cross-desert (to Las Vegas) races, but neither of us liked it! One that we did like!!! was one of the very first Kawasaki triples in the Los Angeles area. I could hear him coming home from work six blocks away. And if you hit a slight bump, which caused your wrist to move just a little, the front end would come up!!! They detuned the next year's version.

I'd be interested.
The apprentice where I worked circa 1974 had one of the Kwaka triple 2 strokes... The Mach III 500,
which he rode like a madman. he used to chuck it down the road about once a month.
He was a great kid though and I'm glad he was never seriously hurt.
The 750 Mach III had 74 very healthy HP and the 500 had about 60HP... according
to my web search.
The Kwaka Versys 650 I was riding Sunday has about 65hp. It's a parallel twin, conventional firing order four stroke...
Which is a testament to how far production bike engines have come since 74... The two stroke
having twice as many power strokes per revolution of the crank and all!
The Kwaka interstate cruise missile you see in my back yard below has just about exactly 3 times
the horses as my Versys 650 daily rider:

I turned 75 ths year and I ride for fun. On a bike like those, I would be uncomfortable after about 25 miles. My preference is what many would call a Grandpa bike, A Harley-Davidson Road Glide Ultra. It is big and heavy but it gets me where I want to go comfortably. I'll continue riding it until I cannot hold it up anymore. Not sure if, at that stage, I'll move to trike or not. Only time will give that answer.

You would not believe how comfortable my ZX12R is... the black bike in the back yard.
It eats entire States effortlessly... and Australian states are a lot bigger than yours mate.
A unit with one wheel at the back and two at the front kinda makes sense.
However one at the front and 2 at the back is joke imho...
especially if it has a transverse crankshaft.
The below makes almost as much sense to me as a "trike" with 2 at the back.
