For some time now whenever the occasion presented itself I posted a complaint against my Nikon D800 stating that the threads for th 10 pin plug had pulled out causing me to lose a remote cord. The remote cord was lost - I thought, apparently mistakenly, that it was scewed in tight. Got home from my excursion and it was gone.

I looked at the 10 pin plug and saw a smooth surface surrounding it where there should have been threads.

Turns out that unless I hold the camera at the correct angle to my progressive lens glasses the threads are not distinguishable. Had occassion to look again yesterday, specifically for the threads, and moving my head up and down to change the angle revealed they are there.

Nikon, hope you will accept my apology and I will state the correction to those with whom I had conversation and mentioned it.

I will be careful with mine. I REALLY miss the IR port on the D800's, that is basically the only complaint I have had about them since day one. That was a VERY nice feature on my D7000's and I still have 3 IR remotes here.

The threaded plug can be a little fiddly for some of us (I always take great care when using mine) and your original complaint may have alarmed a few owners. However your subsequent correction would ease a few concerns - not only courteous but also very thoughtful. I would just like to add my name to the list - nice one Bob.

I absolutely hate the Nikon 10-pin connector. Until now all of the accessories such as the MC-30 have been misdesigned with a too small metal locking mechanism. I recently wanted a new remote and bought the new MC-30a. It looks like the MC-30 but has a much larger, knurled locking ring. Even with my giant hands it is not a problem to remove. In short, buy one if you need a remote. Nikon has upgraded some of their other remotes as well.

I too have a D800 and have had issues with that 10 pin connector. It's just not that easy to work with. Good to hear they've come out with a newer connector. Thanks for the post and correction.
