Kenworth trucks can be seen on roads all over Australia hauling one, two, three of four trailers in various configurations on public roads and even more trailers on some dedicated mine haul-roads. Initially imported from America as built-to-order fully assembled units, a Kenworth manufacturing plant was opened in Victoria, Australia in 1970 with the first Australian built Kenworth completed in March 1971.
In 2005 Kenworth opened a museum at the National Road Transport Hall Of Fame in Alice Springs and now houses over 30 Kenworth trucks including the first Australian built unit.
I took the following photos during a recent visit to the museum.
Note the grey COE (cab over engine) truck at the far end was the first Australian built Kenworth which was completed in March 1971.

This white Kenworth prime mover (tractor unit) was built for off highway use at a coal mine in NSW. It is taller, wider and has larger wheels and engine than the prime movers commonly seen on public roads.

Ahhh!!! Brings back some pleasant memories.
While I can distinguish old from new autos, I cannot do the same regarding trucks. They all look new to me. Great photos!

I can hardly imagine a boy in the Western world who is not interested in trucks and powerful machinery in general. In fact, I can see this as being an early sign of a healthy gender differentiator.
Nice set. Colorful and nicely composed images.
Very cool and interesting subject.

Thanks for the feedback ecobin. I agree ecobin, car model changes are often more bold and often follow popular trends where as truck model changes are often more subtle in appearance while significant technical changes may occur which are not so visible externally.
