• As you get older, you’ll realize that a $300 watch and a $30 watch both tell the same time.
• A Michael Kors wallet and a Forever 21 wallet hold the same amount of money.
• A $300,000 house and a $100,000 house host the same loneliness.
• A Ford will also drive you as far as a Bentley.
• True happiness is not found in materialistic things. It comes from the love and laughter found with each other.
• Stay humble … the holes dug for us in the ground are all the same size.

• And one more for UHHers with GAS: Can you tell the difference between pictures taken with a $5,000 camera and pictures taken with a $500 camera?

bobbyjohn is dead right because he is logical. It's when logic is not dominating that different views come in to play!

I have a friend that says: Money can't buy happiness but it can buy a better brand of misery!

It's easier to relax when you have no creditors...

🙂

My Lady and I worked and worked all our lives and saved enough to last till we are gone. If I don’t spend it, my grand nieces and nephews will. 😗
When I retired, the financial advisor said “You’ve been good savers, now you have to learn how to spend it”.
It’s taken awhile, but I’m getting better at it. I hope to be dead broke when I finally go, having enjoyed every moment of every day.
Could I be happy with no extra cash? Sure, but why not get the benefits I worked so hard for and see the World on my terms.

Yes it is, and it’s less stressful as well. With respect to can you take better images with a $5K camera and lens vs $500, the overwhelming majority of UHH members and almost all of the pros think the answer is yes.

Undoubtedly, the 5D-Mark IV is better than the T1i!

It just depends on how badly one wants to go into hock.

I didn't do well in my Economics class in college but I remember Dickens:

Income 20 pounds. Expenditures 19, 19, and 6. Result happiness.
Income 20 pounds. Expenditures 20, nought, and 6. Result Misery.

That was my philosophy for many years. I always thought it would be nice to have a lot of money. But I decided that I didn't have a lot of money so I didn't spend much.

After many years I finally got around to totaling up the value of my stuff (at least the stuff that could be converted to money). I was surprised at how much I was worth. But I had gotten into the habit of not spending it so the value stuck around.

A while after my wife died I found another one. This one has an MBA. She knows how to deal with money lying around unused. As a result I have more (but it DOES fluctuate with the market). She does not ascribe to my old philosophy, but finds ways to make the money work. (Of course that only works if you didn't spend it all years ago).

She is careful with money, not spending it on frivolous things. But she's willing to spend money on things that will improve our lives in the long run. I have always been sort of a pragmatist, not fashionable (which I view as a waste of money, time, and effort). So we're in pretty good shape. But I still wear things out rather than get a new thing because the old one is worn. As long as it works, I work it.

But the force of GAS is powerful.

Money can't buy happiness, but it sure can rent it.
