Lunchtime - North Shore, Oahu

The Honu (Sea Turtles) come ashore at low tide to feed on the sea lettuce that grows on the rocky shore. They're about six feet away. This is pretty much a normal daily occurance. Close to to Kamehameha Hwy, but you have to know where to look.

There were about 10-12 in the same area. I get back to Hawaii about 3 times a year. Lived there (Oahu) almost 18 years and I'm trying to move to Maui next year. Maui's a little more country and laid back than Oahu and I'm not really into crowds. :)

Once you get away from the touristy places (Lahaina, Kaanapali, Kahului), it's rather nice. I'm looking at buying a house in Kihei, which has it's tourist shops, but it's kind of off the beaten path. A lot less densely populated than Oahu. :)

It was a nice time to be had. I hope you find what your looking for. I especially liked the water on both sides of the roads and you could park and just spend your time there with the kids surfing the waves. no hassle at all.
