There were some large, somewhat persistent fires this summer up here. We had a 2 1/2 month stretch of dry, hot weather with a lot of lightning strikes. There were a few times the smoke was pretty thick here for days at a time. It’s pretty much cleared up now as we’ve had close to a month of rainy weather. It helped with the fires and to clear the air of smoke, but now we have streams and rivers flooding in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley. Today is a very nice day, then tomorrow begins another bout of rain.

another few weeks and it will be State Fair time in Palmer. Then the termination dust won't be far behind.
