I 'might' meet up with another photog who lives close to me. She is a pro (as defined by our community) and I've admired her work for years. I feel like I'm meeting a celebrity. I guess I find it funny because I am not a real 'fan' of anyone that people would consider famous, other than photogs. I could walk by a celebrity and not care, but with photogs, it's so different. And, I wonder what she's thinking of me - I'm almost horrified that she may have checked my work out and actually knows who I am and now knows I'm not far from her.
I'm hoping I can stay cool and not do something stupid....

Remember, she is no different then you. A few "bumps", in strategic places, more experience and still puts her pants on one leg at a time. You would be pleasantly surprised at what any pro would say or do when approached in a one on one situation. Most pros like to talk about their profession, be that photography, entertainment, sports, etc.
Thanks, I love to talk about photography with people who get it. I'm just thinking already that's she's probably going to tell me to my focus is all off or I need to fix my white balance. Ha ha ha ha.
I'm trying to remember which musician said this, but someone said once that if Jimmy Hendrix was alive, he'd probably tell him to tune his guitar! :)
She will probably be impressed that you are interested at such an early age. Judging from your picture I think she would take into account your young age and be supportive and not critical. If she is critical tell her "Hey, I'm just a kid." Please don't worry about it. Plenty of time for that when you grow up.
Well, thanks for that, but I actually think she's about the same age!
btw, I think the musician I'm referring to was Eddie van Halen.....now that ages me!
Sorry for the faux pas on my part. As you can see from my avitar Eddie and I would have a difference of opinion.

That young, eh? Will her parent or a chaperone accompany you two?
<Bazinga!>
ha ha ha ha ha..........well since we're both mothers of 3 and married I don't think that will be necessary.

She is a "PRO" but so are YOU.!
Anyone who gets commissions for there art is a PRO.
I checked out your web site and you have nothing to fear, SHE may learn a thing or two from you and your experiences.
Have fun & enjoy the experience.
You might even create a best friend....Who knows
Enjoy..
Well, thanks.... I appreciate that.
I guess the difference is that she is busy (or appears busy) and I am mostly appearing to be busy. Although now that I have other things going on (grad school and work) I've got 5 inquiries for family shoots and/or Christmas photos. Usually I'm begging people to bring me their kids, lol...but I think it's just because word is spreading around. The principal at my kids school said she heard about me and wants to bring me in to photograph some events. Not my cup of tea really, but I'll do it. The teachers have been checking out my work, in fact, my son's teacher just booked me for holiday photos.
I think it's just perfectionism getting in the way....I can find fault in almost everything I shoot but it's because I'm not where I want to be yet. Technically I am mostly fine but there is room for improvement always, and I'm still working on developing my style.
I hope I can pick her brain a little bit :)

Sounds like you need a good book more than a professional "photog." Of course, she may be prettier.
Here's just one for starters (what a buy!):

BTW, with reference to "one leg at a time" I've seen many women do both legs at once, both pros and amateurs. Typically, sitting on the edge of the bed, they extend the trousers appropriately downward, and place both feet in the pants opening, then pull upwards all at once. Panties? Same method, sometimes while standing.
You are going to meet someone that you feel does better work than you and you are afraid that your work doesn't measure up. Wonder who she would be worried about meeting? She is just another human being. She may have knowledge that you don't have but, you have to remember that you have knowledge that she doesn't have also. I can guarantee that she does not have any magic potion, nor a genie in a lamp. She has acquired her knowledge the same way you have, through hard study and trial and error. I bet you have way more in common than you believe.
