Thank you flip for pointing out the location of the mine. But for my purpose does it really make any difference on the planet where it is located? Are you able to discuss the idea from the meme, that these batteries are not a good environmental object for our planet? Can you agree with the common sense that is offered?

I see Australia has a coal mine. Apparently they agree on using coal for some things where the Biden Administration as well as Hillary Clinton are completely against coal.

Might this be something/anything we both can agree on? Electric vehicles use these batteries. Electric vehicles catch on fire far too often for the safety of human beings. The batteries are expensive and should not be replaced. How about using fossil fuels right up until something REALLY better comes along?

My point is that the type of strip mining used in your photo of a lithium mine is used for the mining of many resources that are covered by man. It is not environmentally friendly and is unlikely that the miners "reclaim" the land ( fill in the hole) as is required in many locations such as in placer mining of gold in the US and other places.

In those locations the miners are required to return the site to a natural condition as best they can. They are required to deposit funds for those purposes before thay begin to dig.

Posting just a pic of just a lithium mine is a bit deceptive, but I guess it fits your agenda.

Right now lithium is a necessary evil in the manufacture of batteries, and it isn't just for EV batteries. Do you own a cell phone, laptop or any other electronic device that uses lithium-ion batteries?

Scientists around the world are making great strides in coming up with new technologies to replace the lithium. Nobody wants to rely on lithium as it's production worldwide is pretty much controlled by the Chinese...and not just in China. They have invested heavily around the world wherever lithium has been found.

The political price in allowing the technology to stagnate so that China is in control is viewed by some as worse than the environmental ramifications.

Perhaps you are missing MY point. I don't really have a problem with strip mining. It does create an eyesore on the planet but if we need what is under the soil I can deal with it. My point is that these mines are much uglier than the Keystone Pipeline that you on the Left stopped. The Left complained about the Alaska Pipeline but it is serving Americans well and has not been a problem either for looks or mechanical problems. So why was it stopped?

In my opinion it was stopped only due to idiocy on the Left about fossil fuels. Yes I realize Americans would never have gotten a drop of oil from the Keystone Pipeline. But it was never a problem either. It is simply another way for the Left to fight against any form of fossil fuel usage. You know, fossil fuels that every one of us uses every day in our automobiles, in our furniture, in cosmetics, LOTS OF USES.

Yet in your corrupt agenda of pushing toward Socialism and the clean earth BS being forced upon us the Left has decided even without something as good or better than fossil fuels we are simply going electric. Forget where the power is coming from to power all of the electric vehicles. Do you have any ideas on that matter. No matter, not one of you does. But we are doing away with fossil fuels anyway even though they are plentiful for the time being until something is developed to replace them. It is the Left ORDERING Americans, You will do this.

OK so scientists are racing for new technologies to replace lithium. Great. But what do we have now? We have not one thing that works as well as fossil fuels, NOTHING. Yet the Left is doing its best to force America to change. I am happy to change but most likely I won't see a positive change in my lifetime and you won't either. We have enough oil for Americans to be self sufficient for decades to come. Our air is not harmful to us as it was back in the 1960's. Yet the Left is doing all it can to stifle drilling. Yes I know you will tell us there are 7000 drilling permits out there but we all know and some will admit it is lots more paperwork and government restrictions to actually get a drill into the ground.

You bring up the political price of allowing China to be in control IS a huge price to pay. America should not allow China to do this and yet Biden is completely happy with China being in control.

As for the Keystone pipeline...since you are fully aware that we wouldn't have gotten a drop of oil from it, what is your beef?

The tar sand oil that would have flowed throught that pipeline, once it was diluted so that it could flow, is basically the Lithium of the fossil fuel world. It is not environmentally friendly at all.

I am also a bit of an optimist. I have faith in science. The advancements in technologies that have happened in my lifetime have been astounding. Advancements in battery technology will not be spurred on just by altruism...the financial rewards will be incredible. That alone should insure we will see exciting things to come very soon. Do not discount the lure of the almighty dollar...or many dollars.

And if I may add, the lunacy of the left who want to do away with the capturing of the raw materials associated with the development of EV batteries, totally ignores the fact that the equipment used to dig these strip mines relies 100% on fossil fuels to run. This includes the obvious things like oil for the engines, hydraulic fluid for the backhoes and bulldozers, rubber for the tires, etc., etc. Eventually EV powered equipment may replace the equipment that relies on fossil fuels, but I see no evidence that will occur anytime soon.

Let's also not forget the childish bullshit of Biden to shut down the pipeline just because Trump approved it. The very same idea as shutting down the building of the Wall just because Trump approved it. Now that is childish especially when you realize Biden is starting to work on the Wall AGAIN. Please don't tell me the Wall was shoddily built etc. Fact is the Wall does help limit immigration and you know it. Furthermore it limits somewhat the amount of Fentanyl that comes into America to KILL Americans. How DO you on the Left forget Fentanyl and the deaths of thousands of Americans?
