Pure Democracy (popular vote) = mob rule. Founders understood this, so they created a Republic. Know that deciding and supporting the stoning a woman who is raped in some counties, or throwing gays off rooftops, or the burning and looting of a city precinct is the result of mob rule.

Some have to catch up- only been 300 years though, so perhaps too difficult a concept- another reason we are a REPUBLIC.

The electoral college was one of the wisest concepts that the founders inserted into our constitution, without it IMO I am not sure that the country could hold together.
