I don’t applaud either act. But this is today’s news. We cannot change the past, but we can certainly try to do better in the future. If this country is ever going to unite, truth and integrity and at least a minimal amount of respect needs to be put back in place. That goes for all parties involved.

Agree, but the past can not be ignored, else we have learned nothing and can repeat our mistakes.

You’re correct, we can’t ignore the past. We learn, document, decipher what was wrong, make a plan to insure the “wrong” is not able to be repeated. Then move on. We as society need to quit keeping score for the purpose of later insulting each other so that we can move on.
