This was shot with Canon 60D and Canon 300 2.8 with 2X . I followed these guys for about 45 minutes as they were attracting hens. Got several good shots but this was the best. The monopod let me concentrate on getting the peak of action without undue physical strain - this is very important in wildlife and sports !

   Excellent capture! Your philosophy about using the monopod is absolutely correct. I use my rifle bipod when using my 100-400 on the 50D. It sure helps a lot. Thanks for sharing.

Its a bipod (2 legs) that I use when shooting my rifle. I lay my long camera lens across the "V" when taking pics like I would when shooting a rifle. Gives me support and flexibility when shooting moving wildlife or sports and my body becomes the 3rd leg of the "tripod" (look in the Sports forum for some of my pics). Check Cabela's, Gander Mt. or Bass Pro for info. and description.

Great that you hunt with your camera and not for a Thanksgiving meal, well done.

Great shot! I've got to try one. You may remember I shoot mostly hand held but there are pleanty of times when I could sure use some support. Thanks for sharing this info.
