One of several I did some years ago. The unsophisticated technique was to point the camera to an area of the sky where lightning was occurring, open the shutter for 30 seconds, hope for the best. I have tons of simply dark sky photos.

One thing I have never captured is lightning. Nicely done, Bob.

Thanks, Ken. As I explained, it's a somewhat hope and pray approach that I used. Lots of dud photos and a few with lightning. Some day, I may invest in a trigger that senses the lightning and trips the shutter. However, again, the camera has to be pointed in the right direction.
