Sat in my garage on a bucket to enjoy the storm in relative safety
Nice. Did you use a lightning trigger?
Wish we had some of that down here in Texas.
Nature at it's most powerful!!

Thanks for your visit... Yes i used a nero trigger... It was a crazy night with many strikes... And yes every time i moved the camera to try to capture where i had seen a bolt another showed up where i had been aiming...
I don't get a lot of opportunities as trees are in the way...
I've done the same numerous times. Called a "lightning tease" :>).

A power not to mess with... As a Ham radio operator i had a strike to one antenna where the lightning actually went underground and came in thru an aluminum siding, blew the pvc off the wall and 10,000 dollars damage... You can bet i try not to argue with her...

Sometimes lucky and sometimes not... Mother nature can be a real B..ch at times...
It happens to all of us...
These are great. We don’t get much lightning here.
Great shots! I too like taking lightning shots, although I use the bulb setting and hope for the best.
One time by chance I saw a lightning bolt up close and personal, striking the ground probably less than 75 yards away. The shaft was approximately 3 feet in diameter and where it struck the ground it looked just like a big inner tube or donut, about 6 feet in diameter and 3 feet tall with the shaft sticking out of the center. The plasma caused the shaft to resemble the water that flows along the acrylic rods in shopping mall water fountains. So bright I was blinded for a moment and when I regained my sight, I immediately fled the tall chain link fence and twin metal flag poles I was standing immediately next to. And I considered myself very lucky. However, none of the hair standing up or the feeling of ants crawling on my skin like some people report.
And for the record, no I did not wet myself! I didn’t have time to...in retrospect I should have and then went and showed all my friends. I was young then, if I tried that now people would just think I had an incontinence problem and would never believe my lightning story.
