This little bandit has been emptying my hummingbird feeders at night, so I started taking inside the ones he could reach. So now he comes in the middle of the afternoon. He tips them over, lets the sugary water fall to the floor of the deck, then he goes down and licks it up. Today, I caught him in the act. This one is just prior to his climbing up to the deck railing.

Cute little guy!! Have you considered putting out a pan of water that he can get to? Maybe he is having a hard time finding water.

excellent picture of a bandit - You do NOT want to make these critters feel welcomed in any way. They can make a bigger mess and do more damage than squirrels. Do anything you have to , to get rid of them.

I bought one of those galvanized steel garbage cans at Home Depot and put my bird feeders in that at night - outside. The lid is too tight for the raccoons to open. I don't have bears here - I have no doubt that they would do great damage to get into it if there were bears here.

Well that has hot to be annoying, gym, but you got a good shot of the little sugar water thief!

A cute reminder that they share our world too. Actually, it was all theirs long before we "aliens" arrived for they have been around for some 25 million years. Hopefully, when we are all gone from destroying the planet, they will have it back.

You're right on there, Sippy, except for one detail: we are destroying the planet, and nothing as big or as complex as a rackety coon will survive the mess we're making.
