Canon 80D Filming Issue

I have had this camera for about 3 years, an excellent camera overall.
However, I was filming in 1080, an automatic setting, and after 10 seconds, the camera would stop filming. I could hear the shutter stop. Then, I would turn it off and on, then it would start again for 30 seconds, and it would stop again. It happened 3 times, until I just used it for pictures.
What could have gone wrong?
Anybody else with this issue?
Scary when you are filming an event, and the nearest camera is in your car :(

I have had this camera for about 3 years, an excel... (show quote)

What sounds most likely to me is that the memory card is not fast enough to keep up with the 1080p video.

Things to check:

Were you filming in a very hot environment?

Was the battery in good condition and fully charged?

Had you recorded in excess of 29', 29", 29frames, previously?

Does the memory card EXCEED the minimum specifications for 1080P video? Check your camera manual.

Was there enough space left on the memory card to record more than 90 seconds of video?

It sounds like it filled up the buffer and could not empty it fast enough to the memory card to leave room for incoming video.
