Yesterday, I posted Coney Island workshop photos in what I thought was three separate posts. So far as I can tell, only my portfolio of reflection selfies actually published. I'm going to re-post the first days shots now. If I made a mistake, and they did show up, I apologize.
Coney Island is special and is a photographer's paradise. The first day we shot basically street photography: engaging with and shooting total strangers. That's what you'll see here. The second day I shot the preparation for the mermaid parade. I'll show them later.
The first two photos show a couple of the Coney Island icons (with the addition of our workshop leader). The penultimate photo was actually from day two…a photo I "stole" with my pocket Sony at full telephoto. The stunning woman was being photographed by a couple of photographers in front of her, and then was joined by the kids. I was resting my weary old body on the boardwalk bench when I saw the action, got the little camera out of my bag and shot once. Serendipity!! The last photo I took just before I got on the Q train to return home.
If any of you get to New York City, this is certainly a Location to visit.

Nice photos.
I was there, a long time ago. I seem to remember there were a lot more people there at that time... day and night.

It looks like Venice Beach, CA, but less creepy. Fun pix on your part.
These are great photos. I grew up in Brooklyn but never went to Coney island until I started taking my granddaughter to the Aquarium, which she loves. the boardwalk was rebuilt after Sandy and is a beautiful place to spend a day.
Great Photo's. Top of the line I'd say. Well done.
Excellent photographs! Looks like a street photographers dream location.

I did see these before, but it is good to see them again. Excellent!
I was there in 1950, in June and I still remember riding the roller coaster and the parachute jump and being scared and loving every minute of the whole experience. It was a very big deal for a farm boy from Yakima Washington.
Brings back memories of Coney Island from my youth!

Thanks for the photos! Growing up in Queens in the 50’s my Dad took us to Coney Island on Sundays in the summer. I got stuck atop the parachute jump for almost an hour and thought it was a blast! Loved riding the Cyclone roller coaster and mechanical horses in the steeplechase. When I think back, riding those mechanical horses on those tracks was pretty dangerous, without any real protection.
