We had severe storms in the area last Saturday night. We were under a severe thunderstorm watch. I bit north of me there was a tornado warning which did some damage to a town north of me. It was about 11:30 at night when I shot these. it was an amazing light show and I just had to put the drone up. There was absolutely no wind nor any rain at my location (my front yard).

Anyway, I have never done this before, so please forgive my on my camera settings. Oh, and I was in no danger from this lightning because all of this was WAY more north of me than just 10 miles.

Oh, and I almost forgot; I went straight up from my front yard to an altitude of 373 feet (that would be 1 meter for our metric friends) looking due north.

Unbelievable! It was so spectacular and it was like shooting fish in a barrel.

What a lovely light show. I would be afraid to send a drone camera up there. Either it would get zapped by a lightning strike, it would end up inside a jet engine or worst of all, it would get pooped on by some jealous pigeon. Thanks

By the way, you probably mean approximately 114 meters. But I’m not trying to be a show off or nit picky.

Really great photos.

But I think you should redo your meters to feet calculations.

Very nice, tainkc. However, 373 feet is a little over 100 meters.

Nice tainkc! That was the most lightning I have ever seen in a thunder storm, as it went on continuously for well over an hour, sliding just north of KC!
