There was a photo bombing goose perched on just about every rock pinnacle around sunrise at Garden of the Gods. After about half an hour, they departed so I could get some "goose-less" shots.

Garden Of The Gods is a spectacular place. I was stationed at Fort Carson in 1967/68, and made many visits there. Always something new/different to see, and that kept me coming back. A must see if you’re in that area. Thanks for posting!

Nice sky high goosers. BTW there are some that hang out on high perches at Smith Rock.

I sure hope that pair don’t have a nest up there. They seem to like to nest in high places, but have you ever seen Canadian goslings leaving the nest? No, the parents do not carry them out of the nest, the chicks have to jump. I wonder whether they would survive this fall.

Happy to bring back memories. I was just passing through for a night and had to pay another visit in the morning before leaving.

Thanks. I plan on spending a morning at Smith Rocks over the next few weeks and will keep a look out. It seems strange that neither location is where you'd expect to see geese.

They only seemed to be on the rocks for a short time. I arrived before sunrise and saw several flying up. After sun up, they all left. I'm sure there's a good explanation.

Thanks. It was unusual and unexpected, so I thought it would be worth sharing.

Look for them on the big rocks to the left...They either hang out on the river or the cliffs depending on where the Bald Eagles are.
