This one was found growing on a long dead fruit tree.
Your simple, attractive photo has consumed a excessive bit of my time educating my self regarding "what is a Lichen?."
'For over 140 years, lichens have been regarded as a symbiosis between a single fungus, usually an ascomycete, and a photosynthesizing partner." Seems the old symbiosis of two is now a symbiosis of three: "North American beard-like lichens are constituted of not two but three symbiotic partners: an ascomycetous fungus, a photosynthetic alga, and, unexpectedly, a basidiomycetous yeast. "
Many decades ago, I photographed an interesting Lichen on a rock. While I was laying down to get an ant's view** the local tick population was populating my waist band and socks!! Before I was bled to death, I managed to remove them.

Education is always a good thing.
Ticks are not a good thing.
Wow that was a surprise. Great shot
