Points to ponder —

China claims that corona virus came from an old stupid bat, but Nancy Pelosi denied having been involved!

If the current power grid can't handle a night of 20 degrees temperatures without rolling blackouts, how are we going to plug in 100 million electric cars at night?

Are there any countries that tax their citizens and send some of it to Americans?

Imagine, if you will, a world where every tweet and meme must be fact-checked, but not a ballot.

How to stop drunk drivers from killing sober drivers? Ban sober drivers from driving. That's exactly how gun control works!

Can we still order black coffee? Are brownies being taken off the shelf? Is White Castle changing its name? I'm sure Cracker Barrel has a problem. Can we still play Chinese checkers? Is that season still called Indian summer? No more Italian sausages? Just how far do you want to go with all this stupid foolishness?

Heck of a job, Democrats! You've managed to bring back the 1918 pandemic, the 1929 depression, the 1968 race riots and the 1973 gas prices - all at the same time!

Democrats have succeeded in replacing Santa Claus with the Wizard of Delaware, an incompetent nit-wit who has wallowed in the governing of our nation his entire life and has produced NOTHING of value! Biden has become the price America paid for denying the Hildabeast her self-proclaimed right to immortality.

Haha. But it hurts to laugh.

Meantime, this onlooker feels sickened by the untamed arrogance of the big oil companies gouging the public at the pump with impunity. The President can do nothing about it, he said, and the Congress will do nothing, we know.

Biden "can't" and Congress "won't" because you are a capitalistic society where free enterprise rules the day, all because you fear government control of things that would/could/should be regulated for the good of the nation. When We the People are screaming for the government to do something about inflation and the cost of goods and services, how can We the People in their next breath say the government has too much power and works only for itself and not We the People.

It seems to this foreign citizen that your citizens are talking out of two body orifices at the same time.

The politicians resolve this apparent dualism.

Price controls have been tried here before and ended with disastrous results.

I have said it before, and will say it again. There are certain "essentials" to the American/Canadian way that affect "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness" in both of our countries. These include food, water, fuel for vehicles, gas for heating, electricity, phone service, cable/internet, and affordable health care. Without these you can kiss it all goodbye and become a shithole country. So when private enterprise starts gouging the citizenry it is time for We The People (ie, that IS the government) to set a few boundaries. There is nothing wrong with some of these services being privatized and making a respectable profit, but there are limits.

Now if you can't comprehend the importance of this, then YOU are really dumb.

I certainly understand what you are saying John, but there is another side to the story. For over a century the oil companies have delivered convenient energy to the citizens of our countries at reasonable prices. The logistical infrastructure of this delivery is nothing short of amazing when you consider it. The few times such as the one we are in now where prices have gotten out of wack have been created by governmental policies. Federal policy may not have the ability to lower prices tomorrow but if the Biden Administration were not so hell bent on this new green socialist transformation of our economy and society, well then policy could deliver relief much sooner than it will take as the Administration designs polices to punish the oil industry.

Personally I think that the oil companies are a gift, I really appreciate the fact that I can drive less than 5 min from my home and fill my vehicles with fuel or purchase fuel for my boat or small gas powered tools that I use on my property. I am sure that were it left up to the government that prices would hardly be better and the logistical side of the business, delivery to the people, would be much less reliable. Let us not forget that a year and a half ago we were paying less than $3/gal, then Slo Joe and John Kerry happened along with a Presidential Cabinet that doesn't know their collective asses from holes in the ground.

Blurry, I am not for the government taking over and running things. I just think there should be some controls and regulations. I sign up for phone/cable/internet on a contract for 1 or 2 years, regardless of what has happened to the cost of fuel... which affects these service providers because they have vehicles that they operate. I don't expect my electricity, gas and water rates to vary from day to day the way fuel does; the price is usually fixed for at least a year, after which adjustments might be made to cover increased operating costs and maybe even losses from before. The point is that these goods and services are regulated for the good of the consumer while still enabling the private independent supplier to make a decent profit. After all, these companies have to pay the employees who are citizens complaining about the costs of goods and services!

I just want fairness in business, and when I see the mega-millions in profit of entities like oil companies who justify immediate price increases with the rising cost of a barrel of oil, and turn around and say when the barrel price drops they are keeping prices up because the oil they are working with was bought a few months ago. That just makes no sense!

And the dumbest thing (not you this time, perhaps) is the complaining that the government is NOT doing something about this on behalf of the people, and then screaming TOO MUCH government control and interference. As I said before, people are talking out of both body orifices when they do that.
