Lightroom stopped importing

When I import from my C drive the imports show up in LR assolid gray images. Clicking to sho in explorer bringu up this error message ?" attempt to index field 'rootFile' (a nil value)
It was working fine before then started doing this. going to call Adobe this morning but just wondered if anyone here has any insight on this?

Adobe fixed. Somehow import as a smart object and add was not selected. With these selected it works fine. Add when already in the computer.

Checking Smart Preview (or not) will not stop import. "Smart Object" is in PS, again not an "open issue". Depending on how you process, need for speed and storage resources determines if you want Smart Preview. I do not use it. Hope this helps.
