Uploading issue

I tried to post an image in the Photo Critique section. I clicked "Choose File," chose the file, clicked "store original," and clicked "Add Attachment," and waited ... and waited. Then the browser (Brave) reported that the site couldn't be reached; clicking the back arrow on the browser got me back to my post. The file I tried to attach is relatively large: a jpeg of nearly 82 megabytes. I'm using an iMac, 2017 vintage though not that old, some 12 MB of RAM available to upload the image. It did, BTW, upload successfully to flickr.

Any idea about how can I solve this issue?

UHH will accept files up to 20 or 22 mb only.

Consider the purpose of your upload. It's unlikely that anyone needs to view an 80 mb photo to provide critical feedback.

Linda has the file size limit listed above.
She beat me to the punch. She posted while I was <slowly> typing.

I first did a trick I thought I learned from you: type any ol' thing and click send, then go back and edit. It's the only way to beat Paul to the first spot

Yep, a full 1:1 image that fills a regular HD monitor is only about 2 1/2 MP. Even a completely uncompressed JPEG would be less than 9mb.

We need a survey topic on what size screens people use to routinely view UHH photos. I'm curious how many will be phones

OK, I will generate a copy smaller than 22 mb. Thanks for the help.

I keep seeing that UHH accepts up to 20 mb. But I find that if I try to upload anything over 2 mb that I get that same message (website cannot be reached) after a very long wait!

Double-check your files. The 20MB limit has been much the same the entire time I've been here, tested and verify multiple times.

I've not been able to upload larger files for quite some time now. I know that others seem to, though.

Well, the proof is in the pudding, so to speak. Many of us are using 24 MP cameras, so to generate a final jpg that is bigger than around 12 MB, one must generate "fake" pixels. So, I took one of my 6000 x 4000-pixel photos in ARW (Sony's raw format) and enlarged it to 7500 x 5000 and saved it as a highest quality jpg. Its final size is 18 MB.. And here it is attached to my post.

Thus, is anyone has problems uploading 20 MB photos, the problem most likely is the ISP through which one connects to the Internet backbone and not the UHG limit. --Richard

It must be that, then.
