At my normal bedtime, around the time that the eclipse was beginning, the sky was totally clouded over. After checking weather.com for the maps, I went to bed satisfied that I wasn't gonna miss anything. However, around 12:30am my wife woke me up to say that the moon was visible and red.
Got these shots when the clouds thinned out. SOOC.
Canon Rebel T6 on tripod with 70-300 telephoto at 300mm.
The first is a little after totality. Exposure: f/5.6, 4 seconds, ISO 1600
The second is when the earth's shadow covered a bit less than half of the moon's disk. Exposure: f/5.6, 2 seconds, ISO 800.
…these are really interesting images…I think the clouds add something to them…nicely done…!
Thanks Sky.
I think one of the best pieces of advice about photography I ever received was to make the best of the opportunity you're given. I try to apply it to any situation.
Clouds? Shoot anyway and see what you get. While they're the bane of an astronomer's and astrophotographer's existance, take the pic anyway. You and other's might be pleased with the results.
