I just wanted to share my great experience with Tamron USA repair. I just bought a new Nikon Z 50 Mirrorless camera and needed the firmware update for my Tamron 18-400mm lens to use it with the new format. Rather than purchasing Tamron’s Tdap firmware adaptor, I chose to send it in for the free firmware update. For just the cost of shipping, and a turnaround within a week, I was so pleased with their service and professionalism. I requested that the lens be cleaned while they had it, and it came back like a brand new lens. I’ve had it since 2018. Well, when I got it back, I hooked it up to the camera and it worked flawlessly. But, before the day was over, I did some thing that I have never done. I dropped my camera case, and the impact was such that it cracked my newly updated lens. I pondered what to do, spend $599 for a new lens or $324 for a repair. I chose to save the money, immediately sent it in, and received it back in a week. It looks just like a brand new lens and it is performing flawlessly. Tamron USA is a class act!

Good to hear! Do you know what, if any, restrictions are involved with the various ages of that lens? I somehow have the impression that the serial number on mine dates it as being too old for the update? (I have the original FTZ, not the 2.)

Tamron did the same for me. I have an r6 and my ef 150-600 didn't work. They did a free upgrade of filmware. I asked if they could change the mount to a rf from a ef........no such luck

When I bought my Z50, on a trial basis. I was looking forward to using my Tamron 18-400 lens.
Thankfully I live in NYC and its less than an hour drive to Tamron's office.
They did a firmware upgrade while I waited, and have used that combo ever since.
I think that it is time for some maintenance on my 18-400, the rubber ring is slipping.

Especially if it is still under warranty! 😉 Are you enjoying the Z50? I love mine - I’ve had it almost 2 months. But, it took a bit to get used to. I’m still learning. I have the D7200 that I’m going to sell to KEH. I think I’m firm on that decision. Lol! But, I am so pleased with the 18-400mm on the Z50.

you know, we are all so quick to complain and bitch and moan about how terrible some companies and suppliers are, bad service, slow replies etc. It's so nice and refreshing to see a post like this. It's more than two years that I have my Z50.
I still have some issues getting used to the EV, I used to shoot with a D5300.
I still like the instant viewfinder of the DSLR , but I really like the 11fps vs 5fps and the additional controls.
My issue is that the sensor on the Z50 gets dirty.
I took it to Nikon to be cleaned, and I don't think that they did a good job.
I was shooting some airplanes landing the other day, and the spots were in the same place in the sky.
I am going to take it back to Nikon for another cleaning, before Beach season starts.

I have the D7200 which is known to have sensor spots. I took it to be cleaned, but it was never perfect. Thank you for the heads up on the Z50 as well.
