I belong to a drone forum. Today I saw this video and thought I should share it. It seems we usually only see the aftermath of these freaks of mother nature. This video shows that destruction as it happens, its terrible. https://youtu.be/lxdFh8nYMgM

I was living in a suburb of Dallas a few years ago when a late fall tornado roared through North Dallas. My home was about 5 miles from the path of the tornado, but I was amazed at the amount of debris that ended up in the yards of my neighborhood. Shingles, insulation, wallboard.

I really appreciated the pictures, having enough curiosity about tornedoes but now wanting to in any way be an eye-witness. It is amazing to me that other than the black clouds there is no other weather phenomena at work!
Poul.

A very destructive tornado tore through parts of Kentucky in December 2021 destroying much of Mayfield which is approximately 35 miles from where I live. After that I had an all steel safe room installed in my garage bolted to the concrete floor.

Wouldn’t want your drone to get to close to that.

A different perspective well worth viewing.

I heard on the radio the other day that the U.K. has the most tornados of any Country. When I looked into it wasn't quite that simple. When the DJ reads out these 'factoids' (his name) a little more info would be helpful.

A number of years ago I had the dubious experience of looking up into the bottom of an F1 that had raised a hundred feet off the ground. Long back story but once was enough, thank you.

The only good thing about a tornado is that it doesn't last long, and it's relatively small - when compared with a hurricane. If I had to move to Tornado Alley, the first thing I would do is build a storm cellar - and never leave home. : )

I'll take a hurricane any day over a tornado, we've been through a number of hurricanes since moving to Florida with little to no damage to our home. Had our weather radio go off with tornado watch alerts several times, but, thankfully, they never touched down near us!

Wow, that's terrible, I can't imagine living someplace where that kind of thing is even possible. As a side note, I'm amazed at how stable the drone, and the footage was!
